More Details

It all started with the Death Note by Tsugami Ohba, a very interesting Japanese anime, which encouraged the author to create a fantastic novel of suspense.

Long before, he read The Exorcist by William Peter Blatty, who also collaborated in order to get a line of work. A very interesting novel where fear is created by doubt.

Likewise, Maelna is a thriller that tells a complex sequence, under that was seen by his characters. Whether or not the fantastic forces acting, or if events are the work of chance, coincidence, ilusion, or even insanity, this is getting by criterion of the reader to decide.

As a big fan of H. P.Lovecraft, Edgar Allan Poe and Stephen King, is Maelna personal tribute by Casagrande to the fantastic suspense genre, in a context very current.

With Maelna, Casagrande includes a little bit of large Gothic Culture to its pages dark and gloomy.

The Gothic Tribe is not limited to wear strange clothes. There is romanticism in their world surrounded by mysteries and fantastic creatures and folklore. The art, inspired by the morbid, the intense love and the pangs of absence,

combined with the past and traditions of other times, is enriched by the wonderful deeds  of their magical and extraordinary characters and events of nature, preferably in dark environments.

Maelna treat also about father of all fears, Lucifer, with a very controversial, that was introduced by the works of Aleister Crowley and Anton Szandor Lavey, and is complete with subtle traces of poet Lord Byron.

What causes great conflict for people is that Gothic art, including literature, is associated with malignant entities such as werewolves, vampires, demons, and sometimes knocking on the door of the head larger, the Lord himself Lucifer. God’s Silence, Devil’s Temptation.

The author puts on probation patterns of evil and goodness, because this conditional is intrinsic to the characters of Maelna, that cannot be so good or idealistic, but that in practice is the great reality of human beings, in their particular epic of the people for space and their survival.

Maelna not recommended for people who are easily impressed. As one musician and old friend of the author, the narrative is very “punk”, and really can scare, face and stir the reader’s head!
